The Mother’s Union

Members of the Mothers` Union met at St. Christopher’s Church on October 4th.  Joyce welcomed all present and our speaker Mrs. Beth Butler.  Apologies were recorded.  The service began with a hymn and the bible passage was read by Mrs. Vivienne Thompson. Joyce led us in our Mothers` Union prayers.  Beth’s subject was "Christianity Today".   She explained that through the ages we are now no longer a Christian country.  The war years have changed people’s attitudes towards religion. In this age people look for entertainment.  Sundays are no longer observed. Sports and leisure pursuits have replaced worship for the majority of people.

Mrs. Pat Manson gave the vote of thanks to Beth for her excellent talk.

After our tea break we had a short business meeting and Joyce informed us of some Deanery and Diocesan events.

Joyce closed the meeting with a prayer.
