Harvest & Back to Church #2
On Sunday September 25th we celebrated Harvest and Back to Church at the same time. We invited parishioners and friends, staff & children from St Mellons Church in Wales and reception children from Bishop Childs Church in Wales School. It was a wonderful occasion and the church was full - even the ash trays on the side!
On the previous Friday St Mellons Church in Wales School came to celebrate Harvest with parents and families. The Reception class sang with great gusto - they'd only been in school about three weeks bless em. Their favourite song was "Big Red Combine Harvester" - not the my favourite BUT with all the actions and such enthusiasm it even melted my cold heart!
One enterprising governor (ex-teacher) had persuaded the Head to help decorate the church and provide some water drops to symbolise Water Aid as that was the chosen charity for the school and the church.

Back to Sunday - more Water Aid was received. I preached about grapes and said how much mothers liked red wine and should thank God. That took about four minutes. After the service (Holy Eucharist) we enjoyed ourselves over coffee and a Welsh Cake and gave away some freebies inc goings on in the Church and how to contact the Vicar.

We had lots of photos including one of two previous Heads and the present Head of St Mellons Church in Wales School. Three wise .................. Heads you might say.
